With Father's Day coming up I thought it would be nice to discuss what we think makes a dad awesome.

I think this is so sweet -  grabs my heart. love.gif

That is so sweet. I also love the beautiful images of great dads in our Father's Day contest from last year

Here are just a couple of them:

My DH is awesome because he is always willing to soothe our daughter when she is in pain. He tells her stories about the world, listens to her talk and talk, and makes sure she's safe no matter what she's doing. He treats her like a princess and also expects a lot from her. He teaches her right from wrong but is sensitive to her feelings and needs. He is a loving daddy who would do anything for his little girl.

my father is 62 years old and in march 2010 he retired. i was pregnant with my first child and he offered to watch her a few days a week and by november when i went back to work he asked to watch her 5 days a week. 3 years later he still watches her and now my son who is 1. he is an amazing dad and pop pop. my children adore him as do i. he is my support and my angel and i wish everyone had a dad like mine.i am one lucky lady. i am also blessed with an amazing hubby and father of my children who is as amazing as my own father.

I'm dating a man who is the type of parent any child would be happy to call dad. He is kind and thoughtful in his approach to the guidance portion of parenting, ever striving to develop and grow his skills in tandem with the ever-evolving needs of his son. In every other manner, he follows his son's lead with a hands-on, playful approach. Costumes are standard attire and they can often be found shopping rummage toy selections for parts to create new, original toys which they design together. Creative problem-solving (such as wearing a scuba mask in the bathtub to overcome the dreaded water-in-eyes scenario) is just a natural part of how he operates. He has also managed to gracefully extend his playful, loving reach toward my son who adores him and basks in his affection. I want to wish Noel a very happy Father's Day. I'm so glad there are dads like him in the world and I'm very grateful he's in our life.

One of the coolest things about my dad is how active and engaging he was with my sister and I even after my parents got a divorce. He really wanted to be involved. I've also seen him cry in emotional situations many times which has really stuck with me in a good way. My husband has an amazing ability to get on the floor and play with my children in ways that I do not and I really appreciate that!

Just me, my DH, DS and DD Homeschooling
