He is almost 10 and I thought he was being careless. I recently realized that he just doesn't know how to pee directly into the toilet. Pee gets all over the toilet and floor. I can handle almost everything alone however, this is one I need help with. Any advice?
10 is old enough to self-correct. Just talk to him about the problem and ask him to direct his pee into the toilet.
Also, ask that he helps to clean the toilet / bathroom. If he hates cleaning up his own urine, he'll soon understand that peeing into the bowl = no pee on the floor for HIM to clean up.
I have had this same issue, and I don't thinkit is not knowing how, I think it is being careless. I have started making my 2 boys clean the toilet when ever it is unreasonably gross. I can never be sure which one or both who does it and the both claim it is never them, so I make one clean it one time, then the other next time, and then they are very good about keeping pee in the toilet. After a few weeks things slide , then someone is cleaning the toilet again! and its all good for awhile.
Why not make a rule that he needs to sit to pee at home? And yes, make him clean the bathroom, too!
