My sister have passed her first trimester. Although a mild nausea persists, she is completely healthy. She took an appointment for a dental implant this month. Is it completely safe to have dental implants at this stage? Should she wait for the baby to come out?
What are the pros and cons of having a dental implant? Suggest precautions and preventive measures to be taken before the whole procedure. Is there any long lasting side effects for this procedure? I'm very much concerned about my sister and the baby. Should I convince her not to do this now? Although she already took the appointment, what are the better options available nearby Aurora? Suggest some expert or something I can depend for advice. Thanks in advance.
My own personal experience and education tells me that unless it is an emergency, dental work should wait until the end of the pregnancy. That is what my midwife told me.
I had a filling put in during my eighth month of pregnancy during one of my pregnancies; it involved a local, drilling, filling. The dentist was concerned that I would go into labor at such a late state of pregnancy. When I told her, my midwife yelled at me for allowing such a procedure during my pregnancy. My son came out just fine, 13 days early, and he is 34 years old now with no problems ... that I know of.
I am sure it is fine, but she should wait to be on the safe side. I had a dental implant done not during pregnancy, but 13 years ago. There is some work done with a local, but other than that, mostly it is alittle work done now and then some healing takes place before the next step. A friend of mine had a complete mouthful of implants put in a year ago at UCLA, and it was the same thing - some work done, and then some healing done before the next step, so the process seems the same.
That is just my experience. Good luck to your sister.
