Hello!
I have searched all the book threads I can find but haven't found exactly what I am looking for. I love advice like Ina May's - the idea that you are raising a little citizen, someone people will want to be around. I like her examples of "if you have to go to the bathroom before your child eats, fine." The idea that kids are brought into the family and community but do not become the center of it. I also love her tips on breastfeeding- trying to calm a baby down before feeding so that they associate being calm and not screaming with getting what they want etc.

Lots of those things I already do with kids I know intuitively, and am looking for parenting books that are along those lines. Are there any books that people have loved that are similar in tone?

I will read sear's books, though I won't be attachment parenting or co-sleeping (i will take some of the lessons from the philosophy though), I lean toward few or very spaced out vaccines, and would like an open, emotional and strong girl household (as we are expecting a girl). I would also like a sexuality friendly household and would love to learn more about making the child's relationship with her body accepted and ok, but also something private as well...

hope this ramble makes sense! thanks!
