I am now 35 years old.

Seeing as how I'm also pregnant, which everyone thinks is a no-no "at my age" I thought it worth sharing.

Thank you, that is all.

My mother had her last baby around that age, and she said that while she was pregnant she was embarrassed because she thought everyone was wondering what she was doing pregnant at her age, but now she admits that she has been the best mommy to her last son because she is so much more patient with him and has more life experience.

Plus, isn't thirty-five the new twenty-five... or is that just something I heard on Sex in the City? You'll do great, mama.

I turned 35 yesterday. We are not too old.

I'm sorry that you don't have more support from your community. Wish you could move up to my neck of the woods where being 35 and pregnant is a.o.k.

Oh, I can't say there's a lack of community support - I never give them a chance to opine one way or the other! (You should see the looks I get when I say I hope to have another couple of kids yet!)

And my doc's cool about it. When I asked pre-conception if she would have any concerns she said she pretty well ignores the 35-year mark. It's just a statistical milestone, it's not like your uterus quits working. She did comment I might be overconfident about my ability to conceive quickly, but we did it again in the first month (6 for 6 now!), so there's not much more she can say about it.

So I'm not taking a lot of grief about it, but I still thought it a milestone worth noting, you know?

Happy birthday! I just turned 31, and I think this is the perfect age for me--I was so young the last time, it was harder standing up for what I wanted. Now...I can be pretty darn obnoxious if I need to be

Mom to Liz (14) and Dillon (3) and Mitchell FINALLY born 7/11/10!

Stepping in from the Oct DDC...

I'm 42years old and will be having my son right before I turn 43. Age is relative to how you feel right? 35 is young

Fun! I am turning 31 next month. I'll probably be way past 35 when we're done with growing babies.

Franky, I don't know why people are so surprised that women are having babies older then maybe they did a generation or two ago.

Hey! I had my first at 34 and second at 39! I think some people wonder if I'm the mom or the grandma sometimes, but I can take it.

When you say six for six, do you mean you got pregnant six times all only trying one month a piece?
I am pretty stupid lately so you probably could have meant anything but that...just curious.

Yup. DH and I joke that I'm the poster child for effective birth control. Thank God I wasn't born a hundred years ago or I'd have 18 kids by now.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!! I hope you did something fun to celebrate!

35 is definitely NOT too old to be having children-didn't Charlie Chaplin have kids in his 70's??? Anyhow, I will be 31 when I have this babe. I am really feeling like I'm coming 'into my own' now that I've passed the 30-year-mark, in so many aspects of my life: my career, my marriage, my parenting skills. I can't help but feel that I have so much more to offer to my children now that I'm out of my 20's and a little more mature. Of course, maturity is relative, and I know 40 year olds who could do a little 'growing up'. LOL!

My Grandmother had her last son (my uncle) at 41-and that was in the late 60's-when having children in your 40's was practically unheard of.

I'm happy for you! Happy birthday! Your baby is certainly blessed!

Yeah, but for Charlie Chaplin the work of pregnancy was over in one day.

No kidding. My beloved older sis just had her first at age 33, I'm getting ready to turn 29 and still working on the first one...! With today's health care and understanding of nutrition, excercise, etc. there's no reason a woman can't have healthy babies in her 30's and 40's.
And that whole silly business of "old eggs?" Whoever came up with that one?!? Yes, we may be born with all the eggs we will ever have but by time ANY woman has her first baby all her eggs should be at least 20 yrs old (on average)!!
