First of all, my ob was really impressed with my glucose numbers so agreed that I don't have to take the gtt test I am so happy and relieved. I just have to bring her a record of my levels at every appt but I'd much rather do that any day.

Then she said that I'm starting to spill protein. She said it happened at my appt 6wks ago, then didn't happen last time (2 wks ago) and now it did yesterday. It was a 2+ so now I have to do a 24 hr urine test. I'm just bummed, my bp has been consistently good and I was really hoping that I wouldn't start heading toward pre-e again. Now I'm not sure what to think. She says not to worry yet, she just wants to get a baseline. But it is happening sooner than it did last time. Last time I was on bedrest from 33 - 35 wks when dd was born. I just don't understand how it could come and go like that. So I'm trying not to get too worried. She said that she wants to start visits every 2 wks just to keep an eye on me.

Hopefully the 24 hour urine sample shows everything normal and pre-e stays far far away this time

Jen, I wish it was 100% good news I hope the 24 hr goes okay. In you last pregnancy, did you go on to develop high blood pressure & edema (swelling) in addition to the protien in your urine?

Well, congrats on avoiding the GTT but I'm sorry about the protein. I spilled protein once so far too, it's nerve-wracking.

One thing I've read is to increase your protein consumption (sounds weird, huh?) Maybe that keep help you too?

Thanks everybody. Last time I did end up with high blood pressure and swelling. So far my blood pressure is holding steady at 120/70(ish). I don't have any swelling yet. My rings are still loose. I just tried on the shoes that I used to wear at work last pg that I swelled out of and they are still loose too. So that makes me feel a little better, but I still know that pre-e is really tricky and scary. So, I'm going to go pick up my jug tomorrow and get it over and done with.

Thanks for all the good thoughts. Sending good vibes out to you other mommas who have had protein too. Hopefully we'll all make it through without any problems.
