[/B] Had my 37 week checkup today (yes, I realize this makes me a potential cantidate for the July DDC, but a long time ago I decided I was happier here in August with ya'll )

Anyway, as my title indicates, I'm 1cm dilated, which I know isn't anything to get too excited about, but.....80% effaced is good news, right? Please don't tell me I could walk around at 80% for the next month, because I'll have to start banging my head on the wall : I feel like I've been in labor for WEEKS now....I could have kissed my midwife when she told me the news :

Hmmm...I think it's time for sex, spicy food, some walking, maybe more sex.....what else??

Happily accepting all "come on baby!!" vibes,
Robyn

Update as of July 12th.....

Had my 38 week checkup today...and the verdict is still 80 % effaced, now 3 cm's dilated, the baby is at 0 station (and poked my midwife with her finger when she (my midwife) was feeling her head during the internal exam!). Also...possibly TMI, but I'm sure I lost my mucus plug yesterday (yes, thankyou, I know it can regenerate) and let's see...what else? OH! How could I forget to mention the increasingly uncomfortable contractions I've been having!? I just don't remember being this uncomfortable with dc#1.....with him I was just happily going about my day when my water broke, and 7 hours later he arrived! This time around I feel like I've been in labor for weeks....sigh...whine, whine, whine.

Anyway, that's where I"m at today :

Yay for you! Sending easy labor vibes your way...And I hope you don't have to wait a month mama!

80% effaced has to be a good thing, I was paperthin at 38w and had ds within 6 days.

Don't mean to burst your bubble, but I always start dilating/effacing pretty early but then the baby is always late (the earliest I have gone is 2 days past due).... I don't believe dilation/effacement can predict how soon you'll give birth (unless, of course you are 8 cms or something!) In fact, this pregnancy I am requesting NO cervical checks. Hang in there!

Oh nice! Yep, sex sex and more sex.
You *could* walk around at 80% effaced for a month but I doubt it. And 1cm is nothing to sneeze at... I'm nothin'. I feel like I've been in labor for a month too but it's just those increasingly nasty BHs for me. OUCH.

I have a friend who started real labor at 7 cm. Seriously, she walked around at 7cm for over 2 weeks. I thought that was crazy.

I bet we'll be hearing a baby anct. before Aug. from you.

Mama to 4 amazing little people, another little expected 3/6/12!

Congrats. I'm also 1 cm dialted and I'm getting all excited about it when I know I shouldn't. Last time I was 2 cm dialted by 36 weeks and didn't have my baby until 42+ weeks.

Yeah, I think I did that too. Suddenly my water broke and I was in transition and that was it, no early labor at all.
Hope you have a July baby!

I was 4cm with dd at +2 station for weeks (2-3 I think) before she was born. When I started labor it was almost right into transition :

I was 1-2cm June 1 and have, thankfully, yet to deliver this time

mum to Christopher (6/98) Elizabeth (2/05) twins Aaron and Dominic (7/10/06) and new baby Eden (4-18-09)

I bet your a July momma!
I have no clue what I am. My midwives don't check even in labor unless I ask...I am kind of curious. But then again I have 6 weeks to go- well 5.5 so I doubt I am anything yet. I can wait. I still feel unprepared and a bit freaking scared!
