We are considering Noah for a boy name, but DH and I were both stumped trying to come up with a middle name. Any suggestions? :

Of course, we can't come close to agreeing on a girl name. At least we have the boy names narrowed down to 2 or 3. I don't like his girl name suggestions and he doesn't like mine. I mean, wouldn't it make sense that if he liked Noah for a boy that he would like Norah for a girl? Makes perfect sense to me

I immediately thought Noah James... apparently I'm not the only one! Of course, we've got James as a middle name, so I'm partial (Cedric James).

I was totally going to say Noah Riley also...but I think it's just a case of the Dr. Carter love (Noah Wyley) since I was watching ER earlier.

LOL! I named my youngest Jonah Reilly. I thought it flowed so nicely. Then it dawned on me why.

That being said, I think Noah Riley is a wonderful choice!

if you can't agree on the middle name, you could always go for no middle name

I'm particular about initials-- what it is the 1st letter of your last name?
Ours is a vowel (A) and it makes a lot of names, esp. girl names blend right into the last name.

Also, there can be some undesired anagrams.

That said, I like the sound of Noah Lawrence.

Are there any special uncles, grandfathers you'd honor with a middle name? I think that Noah goes well with lots of different sounding things.

Our last name starts with an M. Its funny that you mention the initials - DDs initals are ARM, lol.

Thanks for all the great suggestions! DH and I still haven't ageed on anything yet - boy or girl. He just doesn't seem to be as excited/anxious about names as I am. I know if we could just sit down and talk about it seriously, we could get 2 names. But, he gets impatient or destracted after about 5 minutes and doesn't want to talk about it anymore :

I am tempted to just pick the names and say "this is it!" and if he complains just tell him that he should have participated more when he had the chance . (Can you say pregnancy hormones? )

My husband is the same way when it comes to names, Mary. It took us fighting about something else one night (something that was totally his fault that he felt really bad about), to get him to sit down and look over my list of names and help narrow it down. That's all the talking or thinking he's done over it, but at least we have it narrowed down to 2 girl names now.

What frustrates me the most is doesn't like any of the names I suggest or he is wishy-washy about them, but then makes very few suggestions of his own. :

That's exactly how we were! Every time I suggested something he said no, and so I told him to come up with something and he never did. So what I did was just make a big long list of names that I liked, and told him to narrow it down to five, and then from those five I would narrow it down to two. I don't know if that would work for you or if your hubby would do it, but it might be worth a try.

My dh doesn't help with names either. With dd I made a list of about 10 names. He really didn't like many of them but he did agree to 3 of them. So we waited till we met her and he actually picked from the 3 choices we had. I had already decided on a middle name to honor my mom and aunt so there was no discussion on that.

For this baby it was harder. One we now have a very opinionated dd who needed to be involved and we had never agreed on a boys name before. Out of the 1000s of boys names in the world we only agreed on 3. I've already nixed one. So we are down to 2. This time I think I want to pick his name. I've had 2 dreams about 2 different babies and each baby fit one of the names. So now I want to see him to see which name is for him. The kicker is that dh & dd like my 2nd choice better and I really like my 1st choice better. So I feel like if I choose my fav over theirs I'll be making the wrong decision. Why does this have to be so complicated anyway, lol?

Butting in from another DDC , but Noah James was my first thought too & I am usually not really fond of the name James so...

I LOVE Norah too!!! If this one is a girl (even though u/s said boy) she will probably be Norah Sofia.

We did that with DD and it worked pretty well, but he won't sit down and do it this time. Maybe I will try one more time and tell him that if he doesn't do it, then he forfits his chance to help name the baby

Yes - Norah is my favorite girl name right now. We are actually doing really well with the girl name - we have it narrowed down to two...

Norah Rose (my choice) or Fiona Rose (his choice)

Now if we can just get the boy names narrowed down!
