Hi Everyone,
We've co-slept with our DS since he was born without any problems, but he's started to roll over now (only twice so far!) and I'm concerned with our mattress which has a pillow top. Is it safe to let Owen sleep with us on this mattress or is it necessary for us to buy a new bed? Is there something that I could put on top of the mattress that would make it firmer and safer? Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated!

You know, I'm sure someone can answer this here. But, if you don't get good responses try "the Family Bed" forum. It's really good.

Honestly, I don't have any good advice. dh sleeps with ds1 on our pillowtop and I sleep with ds2 on the non-pillow top (and ds2 still doesn't roll.)

Steph, wife to C, mama to O :, E , and I :.

Guilty here too! We have a pillow top. I hope its safe! So far, DD likes to sleep on her back. If she's not hogging the bed, she's on her side nursing. I've only seen her roll 2x so far on the bed and that was when we were awake.

I did remove the plastic-backed sheet protector. We do not use a mattress protector anymore.

I will not allow her to nap unassisted. During the day, she naps in the cosleeper.

We've had the same pillow top bed for all four kiddos, and we've never had a problem. It doesn't bother me to sleep with them on it. Now, it's not sink-down-into soft.
