Maybe they're letting us stay because we're such chatterboxes and we'd totally dominate LWAB!

Aw, unfortunately, I'll probably just go back to mainly posting at Amity's once the DDC gets booted. I came back to Mothering specifically to read and post with other August Mamas through pregnancy and infanthood, but I rarely go to other forums here. I'm not a big fan of the over-all vibe.

I'll miss you all when they cut us off, though!

It's been my online homebase for years now. Smaller than MDC without so much heavy handed moderation or snippity attitudes (most times, anyway)

I'm exactly the same. I've got clean clothes to put away. Clothes in both the washer and dryer and a dishwasher to unload/reload and yet where am I? Right here of course! I keep trying to stick to just LWAB, our ddc, vax and TAO. But I keep straying into the homeschooling board, the childhood age group, arts and crafts, mindful home management. There are some boards that I haven't ever looked at and it is so hard to just stick to "my areas". My dh calls me a text junkie and I hate to admit it, it's true, if there is a written word within 20 feet of me, I'm reading it. MDC is a dangerous place for me...

That's me too, I get soo caught up in all the forums...breastfeeding, FYT, LWAB, Vacc, diapering...

I have a question for y'all...

I have a personal website where I could set up a discussion board for us when this board goes away...would anyone be interested in that?

Sounds fun! I do get overwhelmed if I have too many sites to "keep up with"...in fact I've narrowed it down to 2 lately, and I feel guilty about the people I've "left" behind at other sites .

I am a total text junkie, too. I read the shampoo bottles while in the shower. :

If I let myself, I could spend hours, heck, all day on the computer. Reading, reading, reading... I have to limit myself or I feel negatively, my kids become needy, my house starts to get chatotic. That's why I have mainly spent my time at one board, Amity's, for about 5 years now. It's got a nice vibe, it's not so overwhelming, and with less members there is not so much need for rules besides, "try to be nice".

(Psst, they could even set us up with an Aug 06 forum and they let you post pics right in your posts and sigs! )

That's what I like about the other forum I visit--I can upload photos to my heart's content!

(And I read and re-read the shampoo bottles too ...and everything with letters, regardless of the language, even if it's one I don't speak. I just can't help myself!)

Me too!! When I was a kid I'd read the same cereal box every morning like I might have missed something the other times I read it. My poor mom would force me to go out and play, but I had old books stashed in the garage toy box. They still talk about my bro riding around in circles on his bike around me sitting reading a book.

Sounds like fun. I just realized that you and your dh are Kristin and Paul. My good friend irl is Kristen and her dh is Paul. She's moving soon from MI to Washington and I'm going to miss her.

Wasn't a yahoo group set up for us?

I could read every board here, too. I was just at 1,000 post on Jan 1st! Yikes! I'll be up to several thousand in no time! There are about 10 boards I visit every day, though.

Yeah & I subscribed to it, but now it's missing from my list of groups. Hmmm... I wonder if they're closed down if they're inactive too long?

Oh I just checked and it's missing for me, too. Who set this up? Was it veganf?

So I have piles of magazines and books to read but I usually end up spending the bulk of my time reading online. I finally read the new Mothering this afternoon while Lucas was napping. It was nice to read something in paper though their new paper made my hands smell and feel funny.

While I like the idea of having a discussion board elsewhere, I think it would be too hard to keep up with another site to go it. I'd prefer an email list or a thread in LWAB.

The Yahoo Groups is gone for me three.

You guys are too funny! I also love to read, but I usually stick to MDC and books I have (I have a stack I'm widdling away at slowly.) I just finished Raising Cain and now I'm on to The Secret of Parenting (both books recommended from MDC'ers on the GD forum.)

2inAugust - I didn't know there even was an Arts & Crafts forum! I'm going to check that one out. Dh and I just decided to start working with ds1 for kindy prep instead of sending him to preschool, so any fun activities that I can do with him would be great!

I really dislike the way Yahoo groups work. I much prefer a board where you can edit posts and view the discussions as threads easier. Hopefully we don't get booted fom here!

I agree, Yahoo groups is very clunky.

I am working on setting up a board that works just like this one, I will let you know as soon as it is up (within the next couple of days).
