I hardly posted during my pregnancy . . . mostly a lurker but I just had to share how thrilled I am about a new development:

I finally found a way to sit my 7 week old in the Hostling (pouch) style carrier I have for her. Otherwise she only liked the Sungli and I only want to use that occasionally for outside walks. Before like 15 minutes ago she would scream if I put her in the hotsling but always wants to be carried so it meant I only have one hand pretty well all day long. Finally it looks like the Hotsling won't be a waste and I can wear her in the house!! I'm so excited to try wearing her in it elsewhere too!!

I don't think anyone else will understand why I'm so happy about this but I think some MDC members will!

Congrats on figuring out a way that works! It *is* satisfying, isn't it?Babywearing makes life so much easier. I've almost given up on trying to get ds2 to nap on his own during the day, it's just so much simpler to put him in the wrap or mei tai so I can actually get something done.

I love my sling!

Took DD out in it today - she's a star! Everyone stops and looks at her and a majority say something about how comfy she looks "in there" - babywearing isn't prevalent here at all, so I may be the first slinging mom manny people have ever seen. But I haven't gotten one silly or mean comment, and LOTS of positive comments!

Anyways, YEAH for figuring out a comfy position! You'll get a TON more done!

It took months for me to be able to sling DS1. this time I am SOOOO happy I was able to sling DS2 from day 2. I know exactly how you feel. Slings are the best baby thing ever, well next to breasts that is

Yay! Congrats

I totally understand! I've been wearing Lainey in the mt since she was born, but now that she's bigger and awake more she doesn't like it so much because all she can see is boob LOL. I've had the hardest time figuring out the ring sling with her, but I finally figured out a way to wear it that she actually likes! We took her to the store yesterday and wore her in the sling for the first time and we got so much attention. There aren't a lot of babywearer's around this area either, most of the babies are in the bucket.

Here's a picture of us right after we figured out a way that we're both comfortable with the ring sling

Congrats Arienne will only go in her sling on the odd occasion, so I have one hand most of the time (Like now...) so I totally understand

Oh, momma....... you are so cute with that baby!!

Thanks for taking a picture, it helps me see what you've got going over there with your 'ring sling'. I have one too.... i think...... its a Maya wrap, it has rings on the shoulder part too.
How are babes legs arranged? Are they poking out at the bottom or snuggled up inside?

Thank you!

Her feet are snuggled up inside, kind of frog like I guess. She really likes to be this way because she can see the world. I also put her in it facing me when she's asleep. Usually she'll fall asleep on my chest and I just pull the sling around her. Then she doesn't even have to change position, and I can be free to move around and use my hands

I'm gunna try putting Arienne in like that, she complains normally if I put her in her sling, maybe I should get a bigger one?? She loves sleeping upright cos of her reflux I think so one that I could just put around her after she falls asleep on my chest (Like now - I'm typing with one hand) that would be fantastic.....

felix has loved my ring sling from the get-go, but he doesnt like being cradled in it, he likes to be upright and facing me ... but now starting to like facing out too.
i recently got a moby wrap and i love that it puts his weight on both shoulders and spreads it out over my whole back, sooooo much nicer only problem is it takes me so long to get it wraped and tied around myself that i have to do it when he's asleep or not anxious to be picked up or i cant get it on right and he ends up sliding down too far or bouncing too much when i walk
also bought a mai tei from the trading post but havent used it yet, thinking it will work better when he's bigger.

very happy for the op, as i know slings have made my life soooo much easier at times!! i cant imagine why so many people carry their little ones in carseats ... if they can help it.

hi, i too can relate completely to getting the hang of the sling... my ds will not sleep anywhere but in it during the day... giving me two hands to do my chores or to type... hurray for two handed tasks.

Congrats, mama! Doesn't it make life so much easier? My daughter has been in her Storchenwiege sling since day 2...and it has been critical to my survival as a mama of 2 small babes I never got the hang of a pouch sling- I ended up returning a hotsling and a peanut shell because DD couldn't get comfy...or maybe I couldn't get comfy? Anyway- congrats, congrats! And enjoy that baby time

J - Birth doula and *very* grateful mama to bouncy Q, fancy F, and mighty F!
