Wow.
Just... WOW. I haven't been here in a few days and I totally missed this. I saw the title "birth story" and thought for sure it would be something terribly tragic.

Your baby girl looks so good for someone so tiny!!! Congratulations, and I wish you both all the best in the coming months with the NICU. Wowie... keep us updated all the time! Start a new thread just for her and post on it every time you have something new to add, even if it's little like, "She smiled!" or something.

Two weeks ago I was admitted for high blood pressure... despite the different meds they tried, it wouldn't stay in a safe zone. On Monday afternoon, I started showing other signs of preeclampsia- I'd had it before in previous pregnancies, one that ended with an induction & stillbirth at 23 weeks. By Monday night, I was starting to become unstable. Because baby was laying transverse breech, they needed to decide what to do fast- last time my platelet count got too low for a c-section or epidural and they couldn't risk that with her position.

After six vaginal births, I had a c-section Tuesday at 3:40 am. Our daughter, Elora Jade, was born weighing 1 lb, 2 ounces, and she was 11.5 inches long. Elora is doing well, despite her tiny size. She's going to be in the NICU for a long time, but she's holding stable. She's a feisty little one

Wow! CONGRATULATIONS mama! I'm happy to hear that she's doing well. May she continue to grow healthy & strong each day .~.*.~.*.~.*.

What a beautiful name! And she looks really good, too.

Mothering put out an issue (maybe 2 issues back?) that had an awesome article about the NICU, Kangaroo Care, Preemies...if you can get a copy...I'm sure it would be helpful to read... (you can prob order a back issue online here...maybe from www.mothering.com front page?

congrats on your beautiful baby girl. My cousin had her daughter at 27 weeks and she was 2.2 pounds. She just brought her daughter home a few weeks shy of her due date at 6 pounds! Breastmilk and Kangaroo care work wonders!

Wow! Congratulations on the birth of your little one! I love her name! I will keep you and her in my thoughts that she continues to grow strong and healthy!

My SIL gave birth two and a half months early last summer and if its any consolation, her son is now thriving and is scooting around her home at an unbelievably fast pace!

Keep us posted on her development!!!

HUGS!!!!
