Anyone have any good ones for late in pregnancy? I was hooing ot find somethign that will give me a bit of energy and also prepare my body for labor and birth. I have a pilates video (not sure i can get up off the floor though!) And a ball (liek a birthing ball) that I can use. Mostly looking for some that will help encourage my body to let this baby come on it's own (or a few days early!) I think if i can get my muscles and body ready then my mind will follow.. who lknows! Anyways... thanks in advance!
I don't know if these will help your body prepare for birth, but I'm using my exercise ball to help with squats. I lean into it and then squat. Its totally comfortable (or at least as comfortable as squats can be) and I feel balanced and in control. Also, maybe consider a yoga video designed for pregnant moms?
Oh, I also sit with my back against the wall, put the soles of my feet together, and then push down on my knees (stretches inner thighs). That feels good and even though I've never actually been through birth before, for some reason I have an intuition that it will help?!?
Good ideas! Thanks! I learned some in my childbirth class 4 years ago when i was PG for DS but i have forgotten them! But i think teh one you mentioned with back against wall was one! And yes it does help!
Go out for a nice long walk every day, if you can. Do some stretches (sitting on floor with feet together in front of you, squatting positions, gentle back stretches...). Don't forget to get lots of sleep and eat well, too.
I have a Prenatal Yoga with Shiva Rea dvd and it really helps with anylower back pain that I have. I notice a difference right away (as long as I actually remember to DO the exercises
).
They talk alot on the dvd about how these exercises will help prepare your body for labor, too. I figure it can't hurt!
I second the inner thigh stretches - they feel great!
