For the last 5 days or so my knuckles have been really sore. It hurts to make a fist. They are really stiff. It is like this when I first wake up and throughout the day. My feet hurt too of course but I figured that was "normal." My hands and feet are pretty puffy, but not extremely swollen. I feel pretty stiff all over but mostly notice it in my hands. Think this is all normal and part of water retention or could it be the sign of something else?

The two problems ARE related. The sore knuckles are the same kind of swelling. Drink more water as soon as you notice the stiffness. I am now up to almost 2 gallons to hold the swelling at bay.

I've had very sore hands and knucles for about 4 weeks now, my MW says its pregnancy-induced carpal tunnel syndrome. About two weeks ago my fingers on the right hand started getting numb and have stayed that way ever since... This is my biggest complaint - its awful to have tingley-numb fingers!

Anyway I've done some reading and it seems fairly common in pregnant women. Midwife suggested a hand-splint, which you can buy at a drugstore and is made specifically for carpal tunnel. Otherwise she says the only thing that will help is to deliver your baby!

Chiropractic could maybe help too. Your neck might be "off".

Carpal Tunnel would be a more raditating pain, and would extend into the wrist and possibly up the arm. I was in PT for this just prior to my first PG. It actually went away when i was pregnant for some reason. Just swollen knuckles sound more like a fluid retention issue.

I have the exact same thing -- puffy stiff fingers, especially in the morning. I can't wear my rings anymore. I figured it was the same thing as the puffy feet. I'm trying to drink more and I think it might be helping.
