My boyfriend and I are loving the name "Charlotte" for a girl. Other possibilities are Agnes or Saskia, though the list changes all the time..

What middle names would you use with Charlotte, with Agnes, or with Saskia?

well, I have to admit my bias here - my dd is called Charlotte, although she goes by Charlie a lot

Her middle name is Grace, which just seemed to click.

Do you need a short or long middle name?

The contrast of syllables makes it flow better. Ideally, the middle, first, and last name should all have a different number of syllables. If your last name is monosyllabic, you should go with a longer middle name. For example:
Charlotte Elizabeth Day
or
Agnes Victoria Lee

If your last name has 2 syllables, a monosyllabic middle name would sound best:
Charlotte Ann Walters
Agnes Rose Cowan

That said, I would go with a fun middle name if I could. I like the idea of playing with the middle name, since it is really just a space holder. I gave one dd the middle name Maranatha, which has religious meaning. I wanted to give dd#1 the middle name Bluebird, but dh vetoed it.

Just your typical non-theistic, liberal, blended family.

Thank you, Mothering, for the past twelve years of support and community. I look forward to many more.

I love the name Saskia! I actually used to have a cat whose name was Saskia Moon. I always loved the way those two words sounded together ... still do.
