Just curious...does anyone else have a "things to do before the baby comes" list? I love making lists and I have a lengthy one, so I want to see what everyone else has on their list. Perhaps I can steal some "to dos" from your lists...

Pretty much my list is what I need for the actual birth and meals to make and freeze so that I won't have to be cooking..

Mine is...

- Buy an infant carseat (although if I don't have it when baby comes, it's not the end of the world, as we have a Britax Roundabout sitting around... I just want an infant seat for the winter months)
- Make cloth diapers for newborn/small size (mostly small)
- Make a sling (gave away my old one to a mama that *really* needed it)

I think that's all I need to do... And technically, all of that stuff *could* wait until after baby comes. I have a sling I don't care for that I could use in a pinch (ie, use it to hold baby while I make the new one ), I have prefolds/covers for newborn size (but if baby is 9 lbs like I suspect he will be, he might need small size sooner, and I only have 1 or 2 covers in that size... although tracing a small Bummis SWW and making some covers real quick is doable... I can make a one-layer PUL cover in no time). And I already mentioned the carseat thing above.

Cleaning my house would be nice too...

Mama to Tornado Boy (6/04), The Brute (11/06), and Mischief (05/09)... expecting in February '15

Mine are:
Clean out hall closest
wash all the newborn clothes and diapers
get birth supplies together
do a really good house cleaning
stock up on easy to prepare or frozen meals

I think that's it. Wish I had the energy to get started.

OUR DAUGHTERS ARE PROTECTED SHOULDN'T OUR SONS BE TOO! :

-order a couple more small diaper covers
-make freezer meals
-finish B-day gift shopping (all of dd's little friends B-Day's are in Nov, Dec, and Jan)
-make soap and cookie mix (our holiday gift this year)
-finish dd's B-day and holiday shopping
-plan out a holiday dinner (I'm in charge of one a year)
-plan out my LLL meetings for the rest of the year

I have lots more, but am drawing a blank right now. I'm planning far head in case this babe is as colicky as dd was, I got NOTHING done for months and months with her.

There is no way to happiness, happiness is the way.

you just had to remind me about my ever expanding to-do list

okay, so here goes:

sew sheets and mattress cover for cradle
get cradle from neighbour (I have the mattress to use as a pattern)
clean out hall closet
clean out and organise laundry/mud room
buy/borrow newborn undershirts and socks
buy/borrow/shamelessly hint for pj's that I can nurse in (I'm hoping that my mum would like to get me these for my birthday )
make and freeze some really healthy, nutritious meals for all of us
pack a bag (never got to do this last time )
clean toys etc that we'll be re-using in the medium term, and pack away all the 'extras'
give dd lots of really special attention and one-on-one time...she's already anticipating the change, and I want to make it as gentle as I can
update my address/email address book
buy stamps

I think that's about it for the minute - my mum is coming for a quick visit in less than a month though, so I'm sure I'll find some more to add before then....:

In no particular order -

-sew my slings
-(possibly) make a fleece pouch
-make and freeze meals (though I might wait until my MIL is here and have her help me)
-finish Zy's blanket
-wash out the newborn clothes/diapers
-wash out my new cloth pads a few times (they're on their way!!!)

Not related to this baby, but need to get done:

-make and stock up on new baby gifts
-get Christmas card labels (to and return address) ready
-write Christmas letter (it's serving as our birth announcement, too)
-buy stamps

Okay - so it's a lot more than I thought... great

Gosh, not much of a list - more of a flurry of nesting/organizing my closets and such.

My actual list is much less practical -

- work as little as possible
- enjoy as much one-on-one, fun time with my daughter as humanly possible. I just want to soak her up!!
- oh, and, hoping my daughter starts to sleep through the night (that's my practical one!).

But you all have got me thinking now, so here's a few things:
- look for a new stroller to replace our old beat up one
- purchase a big girl bed and bedding for our daughter
- compile an album of our daughter's first year to talk about with her before her sister arrives (she's 2.5 and I still haven't done this - yikes, what a bad mommy!)
- look into cloth diapering options
- buy fall/winter clothing/gear for our daughter and make sure we have what we need for the new baby
- return a stinky, toxic carpet to the store I purchased it from
- oh,yeah, i have to have my papers sent from my OB to my new midwives!
- I know there will be more when October rolls around (like christmas gifts and some kind of gift from baby to big sister and big sister to baby).

I'm also starting up a preschool coop playgroup with some other moms so there's some planning to do there. But it's all fun stuff!

Get new baby carseat
wash newborn clothes/dipes
look into birth cert since this is a homebirth and a passport since we will be travelling to see daddy asap (he is deployed to Curacao)
make sure all birth supplies are accounted for
xmas shopping for family (gift cards!)
make labels for xmas cards/baby announcements
get caught up on scrapbooking/putting photos in books (BIG ONE!)
organize spare room so it can be used!! (for anything!)

Think that is about it...still too much to do in 2 months since I am the 'only parent' right now for my 4yo dd--dh is deployed for 6 mo!

I think I have the most un-fun list!! The baby stuff is easy since this is #2 and he/she can wear whatever I had for #1. But we need to...

1. finish remodeling our sunroom/playroom addition (spray texture on the walls and paint, lay the flooring, trim out)
2. finish hauling and stacking firewood (I refuse to do this 9 months pregnant!)
3. start working on our 'little bedroom' for dd #1- although at the rate we go, I completely see all four of us sharing my bedroom all winter. :

Once we move some stuff out to our sunroom/playroom addition, I'll get out the changing table and baby clothes... so that will probably be Nov 20th or so!!

My fun list is
1. shop for cloth post partum pads
2. choose a new pouch for the baby!! Anyone use a peanut shell or hotslings? Or the Kangaroo Korner fleece? Pouches are so cute!

Megan~ mama to Cecilia (9/1/04) Carl (11/19/06) Vivian (9/10/09) & spring 2011 baby.

We bought a King-sized bed today at Costco.

And our car seat showed up in the mail. A gift from someone!

Baby shower this weekend, back home. Second shower the following weekend, with another part of the family.

I have booked an appt with a tentative pediatrician, and I have a tour of my backup hospital class. Childbirth class starts in a few weeks.

Now we just have to finish the renovations in the 3 upstairs bedrooms ...
