Hi. i know this is probably TOO MUCH INFO. But I just wondered if any one else is experiencing this kind of problem? I never noticed until a couple days ago when I went to wipe after going pee, and my labia minora were partly bulging out. i was like "huh?" Then a couple times I just like feel a burn or soreness when I wipe.
I have tried to read about this but there isn't too much info out there.
Anyone else having this prob?

I am 37 weeks pregnant.

I don't know, but it sounds like a possible yeast infection? Check with your midwife or ob.

I don't think its a yeast infection. Besides I just had the vag. swab done for group B Strep last week and it was negative.
Sooo Hmmmm........
It doesn't hurt when I pee. it just stings sometimes when the urine hits the labia. Almost like theres a cut.

My labia are swollen too, though I don't have any burning sensation or pain that isn't muscular. DH actually said a few weeks ago that He could feel my vaginal spreading. Now that really gets me in the mood! I think it is just part of our bodies getting ready for childbirth. Do you ever use Recue Remedy Cream? That may help it feel better. Maybe parts are rubbing against each other that have never really been exposed before.

HTH!

I don't have the burning, but I'm going through the swelling now, too.

google vulva varicose veins--my labia majora is where my swelling is...due to varicose veins...probably due to pushing for 3 hrs with dd...they went away after dd was born...so I'm thinking they will go away again after this baby is born! (I hope...)

Swelling is an understatement with me, : it's not a pretty sight. I had the same thing with dd and it all went away. No burning, but I can "feel" my cervix sometimes when I'm peeing and it's sore.

There is no way to happiness, happiness is the way.

Hmm. Mine are definitely swollen and I don't like looking! I feel like they are more sensitive than normal and I have wondered about a yeast infection but there is no discharge. I kind of think that it is from going to the bathroom so often so I am blotting vs. wiping. I also started using a peri bottle with warm water and a little tea tree oil in the evenings and that feels great.

So funny I logged on mothering with the same question in mind.
I'm so happy I'm not the only one.
My midwfie asked if I had swelling when I was complaining about the HR. I didn't have it then so I didn't bother asking. lol I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Thanks everyone.
It is sooo nice knowing I'm NOT alone.
The swelling doesn't bother me that much anymore. its not sore or anything.
Just more annoying when I go to wipe its just "in the way" Hah!!!
Have a great weekend all.

It's not my labia that are swollen, it's the whole vulva. I told my doc that it feels like the baby is going to fall out! He laughed and said that'd be nice, wouldn't it, but it's highly unlikely.

I doubt it's going away before the baby comes, unfortunately. I'm a little concerned about what it'll be like AFTER pushing!

I am right there with you!!!! I have developed varicose veins in my vulva with this pregnancy... new to me.... I was told they will go away after birth... but I'm thinking, if they are this bad now, just from the pressure of the baby I can't even begin to imagine what they'll be like after pushing.... OMG... I am so worried about that! Hopefully, there won't be too much pushing involved before he decides to make his entrance!!!

I've had swollen labia, hemorrhoids, and varicose veins in my vulva since about 20 weeks or so! : Those of you who are just getting this stuff now are lucky. I've had to ice my yoohoo a couple of times a day sometimes because it hurts so bad.

This pregnancy sucks so damn bad it isn't even funny.

I don't really remember that feeling with my first pregnancy but I definetely feel different about it this time around.. I think it's how my body is reacting as we are getting closer to our Due date.. swollen labia and wadding isn't funny but heck it's a reminder that we're getting closer to meet our new bundles!

Icing hasn't helped me one dang bit! I'm hoping that after delivery, with the pressure off, the nice frozen pads and rubber gloves full of ice will do the trick. Otherwise, I dunno. Maybe a jock strap?
