I haven't really participated in the ddc, but now that things are getting close, i need the companionship of some other mamas who are eagerly awaiting their VERY close due dates.
I'm so anxious and eager to meet this guy. Two weeks (or more) seems like such a loooooooong time to be thinking "when will it happen?!" all the time. I see a lot of moms on here going early/having "easy" labors, which is encouraging. of course some are also going late as well...
So anyway, nothing specific to say. just wanted to set up a general chat for us. i need something to occupy my mind!
Well, here I am, 11 days past my due date. My last baby came at 39 weeks 3 days, so this is strange for me. I am, however, grateful that my ob is proving to be so patient and non-interventionist. He said today that there's "no reason to rush things along," since my bp and urine tests have been normal, and baby had a non-stress test today with normal results. When I asked him at what point he would consider it necessary to induce, he said "there's no set date" and that as long as baby and I keep doing well, we could go to 43 weeks. He also said that he expects this baby to be about the same size as my last two (one was a little over 9 lbs, the other 10 and a half), but that even if the baby was suspected to be 12 pounds (gosh, I hope not! lol), he wouldn't be worried, because he's confident I can give birth to a baby that large. (I am confident about that too, btw, but I'd rather have another 9 pounder.) So my next appointment is set for Monday, and I'm really hoping baby comes before then. Here I was expecting a Halloween baby, and now I'm hoping baby even shows up before Thanksgiving!!
twogreencars - thanks for the link. I found a theatre about 40 minutes form my house that's showing it. Now the only difficulty is convincing Dh that he wants to go.
Helen - good news about your OB being so patient. I'm a little nervous about the baby being late only because the midwives are not allowed (by state law) to deliver after 42 weeks....

Totally understandable. Honestly, I'm a little nervous about my baby being late just because of the increase in risk. But I'm reminding myself that induction carries risk too and am trying to relax and just wait for baby.

Yeah - my DH wanted to stay home and watch TV. I said it was my treat and agreed to his demand (to have a beer while watching the film). It was a spur of the moment kind of thing - no labour - hey - I'm going to do something fun! (instead of moping around the house)
Well, I feel like I can finally join in on this thread! I'm 38 weeks as of yesterday and had a good appointment today after a bit of scare. Initially, the perinatalogists thought that baby had only grown 2oz in the last two weeks and had not been tracking well over the past 6 weeks. It looked like they would let me have the weekend since the baby's heart rate and movement were sound and then bring me in for a cesarean. Luckily, the "right" doctor was on today and she had the technicians redo the measurements. She said that she didn't want to do something irreversible without a really good reason. Well, instead of the 4lb 15oz estimate they made on Monday, the new estimate is an even 6lbs. It turns out that someone had put one of the measurements on the wrong line on Monday and it threw off the weight estimate. So either the extra rest, left-side lying and extra protein have made a difference or this is just how I grow babies.
Now I can rest easy that my babe is okay (but still rest up!), relax and enjoy these last weeks. Now, if only the construction across the street (where they are driving pilings) would miraculously stop and give me some peace I'd be all set!
Kinda new to MDC and new to the DDC! I'm expecting our first little princess (after two DS's) the 18th. I am planning a VBA2C, and OB is getting nervous about me going beyond my EDD. They tried to strip my membranes and my appt. yesterday, but I wasn't dialated enough *hmph*
Cramping, contracting, diarrhea and all that good stuff, but nothing is changing. I was induced w/ DS#1 and a RCS w/ DS#2, so I have no idea what REAL LABOR is like.
:
Hoping that my little one is here soon. My OB will be out of town from the 23rd-26th and he is the only one that would be able to do a CS if necessary. And out of the 6 practitioners there, he is one out of two that feel comfortable w/ a VBA2C. We shall see . . . . . .
Good luck Karri, I'm also going for a vba2c and my due date was yesterday. My mw will probably want to try and do something to get things going at my appt tomorrow. Why do they want to try and get us going into labor? I've read that their is no increase in uterine rupture if you go past your due date, hmmmm.
I've never made it too my due date so this is all new to me. I'm really excited and am having a bit of a hard time waiting for this little one to make its way. I've felt nothing in the way of contractions but I'm pretty sure I lost my mucous plug on Mon. & Tues. I don't have hardly anything to do to get ready since I've done all of it and I am a terrible procrastinator.
Citymama- I'm soooo glad to hear evertything is good with your baby. I have small babies, dd was 5lbs 2oz and ds 5lbs 15oz. and I hope this one is at least 6lbs. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Good luck too you all
Well, my due date is Thanksgiving Day (Thursday), so I'm not overdue yet. But I am getting tired of waiting too. My OB kept telling me that this baby was coming early. I tried not to believe him, but ....
At least I am getting closer to ready now. I've got most of the important baby stuff taken care of. We don't have a dresser to put the new baby's clothes in, so they are in Rubbermaid bins! lol
I wanted to clear out dd's closet (half of the stuff in there is clothes that dh and I haven't worn in 5+ years) and put in a closet organization system with lower shelves and all, but that's not gonna happen. A lot of other things aren't gonna happen before this baby arrives either. At this point, I don't care much about what doesn't get done.
I hope that all of us have happy healthy babies before we get too fed up with the waiting!
Morgan Jade Cable made her appearance in this world last Friday (17th November), a day before her due date. It was a wonderful and natural unmedicated water birth. I will post up her birth story as soon as I get two hands free and am not NAK.
congrats, cablegirl! i'm 3 days past edd now...trying to hang in there...
