My husband and I don't celebrate "Christmas" but we do enjoy decorating our tree and celebrating being together with family and friends. Right now we're having a hard time deciding if we should buy a "Parents to Be" or "Baby's First Christmas" ornament. I'm due the 23rd... so it's iffy!

Anyone else with the same dilemma?

I'm not religious, but I love Christmas... to me it's all about peace, and renewal, the winter solstice, and the spirit of love, family, giving... *sigh* Anyways, this might be too religious for you, I don't know. But when I was born I think one of my mom's sisters gave her a teensy naked angel baby ornament. Just a cute ornament with little blonde curls (like me) and angel wings, and that was "my" ornament.

I want to find something similar for this little one. Something baby and beautiful, that means something special, but not necessarily PROCLAIMING "Baby's First Christmas." This seems to be the age of SLOGANS on everything from baby clothes to t-shirts to ornaments to... you name it. Hard to find things WITHOUT slogans now!

So anyways, even if the angel baby idea doesn't work for your family, maybe there is some other special thing that could represent your babies first holiday with you?

Yes, we are trying to decide the same thing....I am due the 14th, but I think that if I buy a "Baby's First Christmas" ornament or clothing, stocking, etc. I will jinx myself and the baby will wait until after Christmas....

but also, we are Catholic, so we celebrate that the holiday season continues until Epiphany (I think it will be celebrated on Jan 7th this year), so technically as long as the baby comes before Jan 7th it would be the baby's first christmas season....

So in a nutshell...no, we haven't decided what we are going to do....

Homeschooling catholic vegan Mama to my boysjumpers.gif Simon (7), Keegan (5), Ezra (2) and ??? due November

We already have an angel ornament as a memorial to the baby we lost last year... due December 13, so I really don't want to diminish the significance of that one by adding another angel. The thought had crossed my mind, but I just can't do it. It's already hard enough thinking that Liam may be born on the EDD of his sibling, but that's an entirely different subject.

I'm sure we'll find something eventually. I guess we'll probably just look around until we find one that speaks to us in some way.

What about a star ornament? It could either signify that your little star is here, shining, or, the anticipation of waiting for him to come out and brighten your lives, or maybe that he's inside of you, making you shine.
Something like that...I love stars....
