i have just started to take care of an 18 month old girl who hits and pulls my daughters hair (her parents deal with this by batting at her hand and saying no hitting or putting her in time out-which is a whole different can of worms that i'm not quite sure how to deal with ) anyway, the aggressive behavior is rubbing off my 18 month old dd and now she is hitting me frequently, as well as other kids. she knows what the word gentle means and will demonstrate how to be gentle if i say, "no hitting, please be gentle. it hurts mama when you hit." but she thinks it's funny to hit! aside from explaining to her that it's not okay to hit, what should i do? also, if she hits me with her blocks (or whatever toy we are playing with) or when she's nursing over and over is it a good idea to take her blocks away or stop nursing?
