Okay, so my ligaments just suddenly decided to totally give out on me all at once two days ago. I can barely walk, my legs and hips are so unsteady and I can no longer cross my legs. I don't remember this happening last time, or at least if it did it was gradual and not for at least another 5 or 6 weeks.

All the pregnancy books I've read have basically said "yeah, suck it up, you're doomed to be sore and wobbly until you give birth". But seriously, is that really true? Its really icy here, and I'm going to end up slipping while carrying my toddler across an icy intersection and getting run over by an unobservant senior citizen . . . okay, maybe not. But there must be something I can do. Any ideas?

I would describe mine as less wobbly and more just like my hip joint needs to pop, but it is something that is new in just the last few days. I do remember it happening the first time around and yep, you pretty much have to live with it. I did find that exercising helped- either something cardio or yoga- or both. It didn't eliminate it the first time around, but I could really tell a profound difference on days I didn't exercise.

I was working as a home health nurse going up and down a lot of steps in winter when I was pregnant w/ DD and found that I felt a lot safer if I used those things you can slip over the bottom of your shoe that are rubbery with wire things on them. They slip off pretty easily when you go indoors- except that you have to bend to do it!
