I had no idea it could be such a hassel. If its going to cause a problem I will relent but I can't believe they can bully moms like that.

I too want to refuse the eye goop and Hep B. I haven't talked to either my ped. or my OB. We have always gone with the flow on our 1st two children and I really wished I knew this information that I know now.

How do I find out if the eye goop is law in my state (Texas)? How do you type up or tell the staff that you don't want these procedures?

thanks,
Crystal

What am I refusing? EVERYTHING! Including the hospital!!!

Well, it's easy b/c I birth at home with a lay mw who is not licensed by the state nor required to answer to the state.

BUT I did talk to our wonderful pedi a few weeks ago and that is over in the vax forum. They will refuse care to my children if I come in prior to 2wks old with out VIT K and prior to 6mo old without the NewBorn Screening Test and anytime after that without adequate records from another provider.

I'm looking into private sector nb screening, I don't want the state in my affairs or my child in a registry database. http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=559306

I'm refusing everything, too. I'm having a homebirth and can't stomach the idea of hospitals doing such horrid things to babies such as shots right after birth and putting nasty gunk into babies' eyes. As a newborn, my eyes reacted severely to the gunk and my face swelled. My daughter will not go through that. About the only thing I'll do is get the PKU screening done by a private company because I don't want the state to have records on my child.
