So, my belly button was herniated when I was a kid, but they taped a quarter on it in lieu of surgery, and all was fine....When I was pg the first time around, it popped and stood quite a ways out, and kind of never went back to normal. This time, as soon as I started showing it popped way out....and it strains like the baby IS going to come out HURTS!!!

I've tried bandaids...not big enough, and they leave welts on my sensitive skin---and cotton balls under hospital tape made for sensitive skin, which helps a little but still leaves marks...and I can't bear the thought of wrapping my middle with ace bandages, or having anything touching me, tightly, really...

Any other ideas?

Anybody else have a painful belly button?

Word up! Mine is the same way, and I have an 11 month old that thinks it is just hilarious to poke it! hahaha, my poor poor pregnant body. I've tried it all myself and can't seem to find anything that works to "hide" it...therefore I'm embracing the Belly Button!

Mine's pretty sensitive, though not what I'd call painful. Of course, it might as well have a large target surrounding it for as compelling as it is for DD to poke, kiss, etc.

No great suggestions for ways to keep your belly button in. You may be able to find some kind of skin protectect that's not greasy to put on your skin first before putting any kind of adhesive on there. I'm thinking of stuff that I've used on patients that have wounds or an ostomy that's going to require tape being pulled off and stuck back on repeatedly. A medical supply store may have something for you. You mentioned an ace wrap, which I also couldn't even stand the thought of, even without a painful belly button! But it probably would help.

Sorry you're having to deal with this!
