I just recently went through some hellish days. I never had heartburn before and what I was feeling was much lower than my heart so I imagined other things. Since we're all getting bigger, maybe this info can keep another out.
My symptoms began like this:
-Weird buzzing/numbness under right ribs (I was sure I was being kicked or something)
-sometimes stabbing pain radiating from right rib to center under breastbone when lifting myself up from laying down
-gradually all the sensations were under my breastbone only. It felt like a snakebite-when someone twists your arm skin two different ways.( I started to wonder if my uterus was trearing off from it's anchor!)
Finally, stabbing pain that made standing straight almost impossible. Feeling like acid is burning your insides. I called my m/w and she tells me heartburn. Oh.
*I found relief really fast with chamomile tea. I drink it before any meals I think may have an acid edge to them, like meat. I drink about three cups per day.
The other things that have helped and were recommended were:
-calcium pills or milk
-avoid very acid foods
I've also read about the merits of baking soda, but all antacids, like Tums, have negative consequences to the body's ability to regulate it's acid balance. They do more harm than good.
Also, Zantec (I think that's the one) has been proven to compromise the liver, setting a hurting mama up for liver overload and pre-clampsoa later on.
Hope that helps someone. I was in hell for awhile and wouldn;t wish it on anyone!
