This started a week or so ago. It's a quieter sound than, say, cracking a knuckle on purpose, but maybe similar to how it sounds and feels when a smaller bone in your foot cracks when you are just walking around. It just seems bizarre to me. I can't really identify *what* is cracking, just something in the general hip/pelvic area. Anyone else? I'm not worried about it, just sort of surprised and baffled.

I would assume this is your pelvis. It is just loosened for the birth. People with SPD have this but it hurts and rubs. Seems like your is normal though.

Thanks for the input I had wondered if it might be the baby and not me cracking. Also could totally be my pelvis. Who knows?! It does seem to be in the pelvic area, so it's probably that. My little razz is no longer kicking downward (YAY!!!!!) but when he kicks up, his head does provide a lovely accompanying ramming toward the pelvis, so same net effect really.

Ok to be really honest I thought it sounded silly when I first read this thread, bu as I was laying here on my left side doing my Sudoku puzzles I heard it twice. It was a loud clicking and I felt it coming from my pelvis or lower back.
Maybe my little man is a dolphin no really I think it was me.

It is pretty crazy! I can even hear it when Julieanne is sitting four or five feet away from me.

I remember getting this too when I was pg. I asked my midwife and she said it was normal and lots of people hear it, but I forgot what she told me it was

coming from the march ddc ... the sound is the amnion and the chorion, the 2 bags, rubbing together. Like seran wrap getting stuck and pulled apart. You can do a search in the I'm pg forum, this question comes up from time to time. If its from SPD you would feel it in your pelvis and it sounds differently (I have spd so I know that horrible sound well ) the cracking the bags do sounds like knuckles cracking and can be quite loud.

Expecting #9.  Always busy hsing.
