I nursed my two boys for a total of 7 consecutive years.  Child-led weaning after only nursing for cuddles in the am and pm for quite awhile.  For the past 6 months I have experienced a period of time during my monthly cycle where my breasts get full and very painful and I feel like I've got a plugged duct.  I never leaked - so it just feels like this extreme backup.  I've been icing them at this point as I don't want to continue to stimulate milk production.  I find myself also feeling depressed at this time - some months heavier than others.  It happens about a week after menstruation completes.  I've talked to lact. consultants and La Leche and my family dr. and the nurse practitioner at my ob-gyn office.  No help.  Any thoughts mommas?

I don't know if it would help but you could try drinking several cups of sage tea a day around this time.
