Hi moms. I have been reading the threads on increasing milk supply, getting baby to latch on, etc. They have been really helpful. But I'm specifically wondering if anyone has any advice and/or success stories for an adoptive mom trying to breast feed. My baby is 17 days old and has been with me since she was 3 hours old. I'm 35 and have never been pregnant. I have been pumping with a dual pump and five days ago began producing small a outs of colostrum, which was such a thrill-- it has given me hope that I might succeed at breast feeding her, and at the very least, I'm so happy she's getting the benefits of colostrum. I pump many times a day and sometimes at night, but my colostrum has remained at only a few drops per pumping if I'm lucky. I know it may take a lot longer for my body to get with the program since I don't have the hormone supply of a birth mom.....so I'm just interested in anyone's input on the topic of successful adoptive breast feeding.
