I have stopped taking it 3 times before and my milk supply dropped so low my son was constantly hungry and screaming and I wasn't having let downs anymore.
This time I am getting off slower and I am down to every two days, tried to do every 3 days but I already feel it getting really low. I am worried about a drop because my son mainly eats breastmilk at 14 months and very little solids.
I was hoping to nurse on until he weans himself, so possibly through the next pregnancy and then tandem feeding if he decides to nurse longer. I don't want to be on Fenugreek for that long! Afterall it is phytoestrogens.
I do believe my supply is fine, I had plenty during pregnancy and my milk cam in early even after a c-section (before that I pumped off bottles of colostrum daily), I was like a cow. But my son did have a bad latch due to a nipple shield the first two months, and I think this is what caused the first drop in supply.
But we have been all nipple since he was 2 months old and my supply bettered.
Just haven't been able to get off completely.
Any advice is appreciated, how do I get off of Fenugreek?
Either increase his time at the breast before you drop off the capsule or throw in a couple pumping sessions a day just to rev your system up. That's all I've got- I hope you can get off of the Fenugreek- I stopped when my ds started eating solids but before that I was six capsules a day but considered it better than the Dompeirdone I was on before.
Has your little one ever had an assessment for lip and tongue tie? You can easily see the lip ties, but tongue ties require "feeling" as they are not always easily visualized...hence most peds and lactation consultants will miss many as they are often only trained to look for the very obvious anterior tongue tie (heart shape tongue).
The baby drives the boat.....so I would be wondering about lip/tongue function.
