I'm new here and hoping someone can help me! My little guy just turned 9 months and we have had all sorts of problems along the way. Things had actually been going pretty smooth and all of a sudden I have horrible horrible shooting and stabbing pains in my nipple and aereola when he is nursing, not any other time. My LC said it sounds like nerve pain possibly from him manipulating his mouth different since he is teething pretty bad. Has anyone else experienced this? Sometimes it's so bad I think about stopping, but if I give that breast a break for a day or two it gets better and then starts up again. Any suggestions on what this pain is or caused by would be great! Thanks!!

If it is vasospasm (does the tip of your nipple turn white when your baby comes off?) I had success taking Evening primrose oil, up to 12 capsules a day. It took a while with this treatment to start feeling relief.
