Does anyone have experience stopping domperidone? I've been taking it for about 4 months. My son had undiagnosed lip/tongue tie issues that adversely impacted my supply and I couldn't get it back up (tried everything else first). I truly hate the side effects, though, and my son is eating more solids now and I'm starting to feel a bit oversupplied.

I'm concerned about staying on it too long; but I'm also worried about my supply totally tanking when I stop. He is 9.5 months and nurses every 2-3 hours, and a couple of times at night.

Any tips on weaning off and what to expect would be helpful. Thanks.

I was on domperidone for over a year due to IGT. I tried weaning off but my supply did dip--dip, not tank--and so I decided to wait until the 12-month mark. The LC led me through how to wean, and about halfway through I changed course and my supply went back to what it had been. I'd imagine in your situation you could easily wean without losing the supply you need. Good luck!

Thank you! So to be clear, you weaned off, and your supply without dom ended up going back up to what it had been while taking it? That's encouraging to hear. I've seen a dip in supply whenever I've tried to back off the dosage, so I've assumed that my supply would really suffer if I stopped taking it.

I did see a dip in supply, but not till I had been weaning off of it a while, and it wasn't dramatic. I wonder if you added a pumping session you might be able to counteract the effect and keep your supply steady. I also remember the LC having me lower te dose very slowly, so you can try that too.
