At first, this morning, I thought it was a pimple, although it hurt tremendously. After a pre-shower exam (later this afternoon), it seems to be swollen with a red area about the size of a quarter. If it is a spider bite, should I still nurse on this side? Is there any this else it could be? TIA

I would see the doctor ASAP to make sure it is not MRSA ( staph aureus infection). MRSA infections are frequently misdiagnosed as spider bites. Sorry , but I don't know about whether you can breastfeed on that side or not.

Whoaaahoa! Ack. Staph! About a month and a half ago, I had what I took to be a mosquito bite on my breast (I'm not bf, btw, but I am pregnant). I put some Cortaid on it, and that stopped the itching, but my breast hurt inside for over a month, and will still hurt a little bit sometimes. My ob checked and didn't feel anything unusual, but it still hurt. Could it have been something other than a mosquito bite like a staph infection? My friend's son just had a staph infection (I did NOT come into contact with him at all, though.).
