I am working with a woman who had a pretty bad case of hypothyroid. She's due very soon and wasn't able to nurse her first for very long because of serious supply issues, lack of knowledge, and lack of support. we're going to work very hard together to make sure it goes better this time around. Anyone have any suggestions or good reads?

Is she taking meds for it? I have pretty bad hypothyroidism & don't treat it...and have rivers of milk. Maybe the other issues she was having contributed more? Not saying it's NOT the thyroid though, just ofering my own experience. I'd say if she has supply issues the meds (Synthoid, likely) would really help!

Depending on how low her levels are, she might want to look into medication. Has she in the past? Has she shared her TSH level?
