Ok the last thread reminded me I want a no visitors sign on my gate....for after the baby comes.
What would be a nice way to say.....Stay the heck a way, and next time call first! LOL

My mw always prepares a sign that has something like this:

Baby's name was born at _____ on ____
In order to ensure that this new family gets the best start that they can, we ask that visitors please call first and leave a message. So and so appreciate your thoughtfulness and will call you when they feel ready.

I think mine might be a little wordy, but something along those lines. That way, noone feels "snubbed" and hopefully, they will realize that the best thing for a brand new family is rest+peace+quiet+privacy.

Good idea. I don't plan on calling anyone at all to say she is here but will send birth announcements out when she is about 1 week old then HOPEFULLY everyone will call first.

Maybe I'm just an a-hole, but if we weren't expecting anyone, we let the doorbell or knock go unanswered. People would either just leave a gift on the doorstep or call and schedule a meeting for later.

SSSHHHH!

This house has a new baby!

Sex:
Weight:
Length:
Date:
Time:

many months of waiting
and the day has come!
our baby (insert name)
is now in our home.
with gentle hands
and tender love,
our angel came
from up above!
so as we enjoy
our babymoon,
please don’t disturb
you'll see him/her soon!

Please help us support this new family during this special time by:

*Limiting visits to 20 minutes (unless helping with housework)
*Washing hands before holding baby
*Offering to pick up groceries or run errands for the first couple weeks
*Bringing meals to the family or gift certificates
*Helping with household chores (laundry, dishes, etc.)
*Greeting Bella and Raja first upon arrival

Thank you!

Personally, I liked company - even when our babies were little. Then again, my MIL lives three hours away...

But our neighbor had a sign on the door that said something like:

"Baby James was born on August 13th. Mom and baby are doing fine but are resting. We are accepting visitors between the hours of 3:00 and 5:00. Thank you! John, Mary and baby James"

It got me off their porch!

I really like this- people often want to be helpful, but do not know where to start- so by listing the things they can do sets it up for 'be helpful or come some other time' kind of vibes.
