DH and I have gotten all of our W2's but one. And the one I am missing I have called the old employer in florida and left a message but he never called me back. Can I some how file for a lost W2 or how can I get it. Cause I need to file ASAP so we can get that money back so we can get a car and a place to live.

You actually have a few more days before you can file a complaint. They have until Jan 31st to mail it out, and unless you left your new address with the company explicitly, it will go through all the USPS forwarding hoops.

I believe you can file something with the IRS if you don't receive it by a reasonable date.

I hope it shows up for you soon!! We're still waiting on one ourselves... ~sigh~

You can always save it until next year and just file with what you have...

I had to do it last year... Two of my W2s hadn't come in and I was REALLY needing the money, so I just filed with what I had and held onto the other ones until this year. I just did my taxes yesterday and included the old ones. I don't think you're allowed to do it if you owe money, but it's not an issue if you're getting a return. I assume it's better for the gov't because they don't have to pay you right away, you know?

Do you have the last paystub with the tax withholding information? If so, you can use that and make a photocopy to send in with a notice that you never rec'd a W-2 from the employer.

BTW, since $ is tight, you may want to consider filing for free if you haven't already. I used this http://www.express1040.com/ last year and probably will again this year. It is free to file federally and $10 for the state. I found it on the IRS site. Super easy to use!

That's a good suggestion. There are a TON of good sites out there. This year I used www.taxact.com and last year I used www.turbotax.com.
