Can I soak beans with vinegar? - Mothering Forums

In the NT book it says to soak with whey or lemon juice. Would it work to use apple cider vinegar? That is all I have on hand.

I've done it--and I recall reading on some TF site that you can use multiple different acidic mediums, including vinegar.

But that was only one site (which I don't have a link to). I actually soaked some garbanzo beans for sprouting in water w/ ACV--by accident (I think you're supposed to soak in just water for sprouting)--they sprouted well though, so that was good!

Not sure this is helpful, but I *have* done it. I'll be checking this thread w/ interest...

The only beans you have to soak with an acidic medium of some sort are black beans if I'm not horribly mistaken. The rest are fine just using water.
