i recently had my cholesterol checked and i'm trying to interpret the results. my dr said the results were fine, overall a little high, but with good HDL and triglyceride numbers. i've heard it's the ratio that really matters, how do you figure that out? here are the numbers:

total cholesterol = 217
LDL = 130
HDL = 78
triglycerides = 46

well i did some research and answered the question for myself. my high HDL puts me in the no risk category and my cholesterol ratio (2.78) also puts me in the no risk category. i wish i could convince my parents to stop their cholesterol lowering meds, and change their diet. my mom especially, she's borderline but she's taking the meds as a precaution. shhesh.
