have to make this quick, the babe is screaming. i'm trying  to pick a good multi for me and the kids. would you go with garden of life RAW or standard process catalyn? and why? i've considered standard process to be the best, but the garden of life RAW vitamins look good and have probiotics in them. tia.

Garden of life.  The standard process ones I have looked at dont have near the nutrients that the GOL have, and the SP have a lot of stuff in them from cow parts.  One that I saw was from bovine thyroid I think?  I have not looked at all their supps, but I would look at the nutrient and ingredient lists to make your decision.

I would never settle on standard process, and really I wouldn't take garden of life either. Just too many ingredients.

to be honest, most multivitamins make me throw up..no really they do. so, I take them as separate vits. B, C, D E etc...its a handful but that is what I do.

I havent noticed anything bad or artificial in GOL, just lots of fruit and veggie and sprouted seeds ingredients, and some probiotics...

Now I don't mind the bovine adrenal, liver, spleen, kidney in the SP vitamins. I figure it's a great way to get our offal. What I don't like is the 'other' ingredients: ascorbic acid, calcium stearate, cholecalciferol, etc. Are they adding synthetic vitamins to their whole food blend?

The GOL don't have any of these 'other' type ingredients, and they do have probiotics, but they do not have any organs. which is hard to get the kids to take seperately. I'm trying to figure out whether to take the Women's (or Family) vitamin code or the Women's 1 a day, which is SO much cheaper. it does have some less of some vitamins, but not that much less.

I really need to open my mind:)  I know that organ meats are good, the thought just bothers me!!  Do you think many of the beneficial properties remain after it has been put into the tablet, and all the processing it goes through?

Do you mean you are considering 1-A-Day Womens, manufactured by Bayer?  Sorry but I think they are just a terrible company!  They put artificial dyes in their vitamins as well as anti-freeze!   They also are not whole foods based so you wont get much out of them anyway. Unfortunatly I took their prenatal with my first pregnancy.  It made me so sick my entire pregnancy and I could not figure out what was making me sick.  After researching the ingredients I thought WOW, no wonder, my body was trying to rid its self of poison!

After looking on SPs website I see this list

Other Ingredients: Dried cane juice, maltodextrin, honey, calcium stearate, natural cherry flavor, glycerin, arabic gum, ascorbic acid, pyridoxine hydrochloride, starch, sucrose (beets), vitamin A palmitate, cocarboxylase, riboflavin, and cholecalciferol.

Under the childrens multi!  Yuck!  You are right.  I just have never been a fan of SP because their supps contain so few vitamins, so I hadnt really looked that closely, but now I am not a fan to an even greater extent!  Lol.  I guess it probably would be a good thing if the GOL contained organs but I think most or all of their products are vegan.  Is there another supp that has organs?  Or even one that is specifically for getting kids to take organs, even if it has no other vitamins?  I of course would need for them to be from an organic grass fed animal, that is one thing that I dont know about SP because they dont say "organic bovine ......."

Yes, SP does add synthetic vitamins to some of their products. For example, in that list above pyridoxine hydrochloride is a synthetic vitamin. The riboflavin is likely synthetic too since they do not list the natural form. The calcium stearate is a flow agent; they just happen to use calcium stearate instead of magnesium stearate like many other vitamin makers use. I'm using the SP Bio-Dent product right now.

Someone asked about other vitamins that contain organs. Dr. Ron's makes products like that.

No, I'm considering GOL Vitamin Code Women's ONE or their regular Women's (which I think is 4 capsules a day). GOL 1 a day is $20 for 75 capsules (2.5 months worth). Whereas the regular one is $50 for a 2 month supply. I'm leaning towards their regular Women's vitamin since I'm still BF. Though once I'm no longer BF I may switch to the 1 a day, cause it SO much cheaper.

I will say this for SP supplements, they do work. last winter I was getting sick twice a month, a friend recommended SP's Congaplex and I tried it. Didn't get sick anymore that winter/spring. Same thing happened for her, her son (who's in a daycare and frequently exposed to sick kids) and she were sick constantly (they take FCLO) until they started taking the Congaplex. So, even though I don't like some of the ingredients in it, I do plan to take the Congaplex again this winter. With 3 kids and homeschooling, I just can't afford to be sick all the time.

O ok lol.  I'm trying to figure out which vitamins to take while BFing myself.  I'm 34 weeks pregnant and am planning on taking my GOL prenatal for a few months, then switching to another vitamin or a combo of 2, but not sure which ones yet!
