I left the chick peas in water over 24 hours, but I kept changing the water as the white froth showed up.

I usually soak up lots of beans, but this time I ran out, and it was a small amount.

Now, prior to cooking them they are are really mushy to the touch, if I pick 1 up I can easily sqeeze it, and it falls apart. I have never seen this happen, is this normal?

Is it OK to cook, to eat?

Why are they mushy? Will we get sick by eating them?

Should I just try to make patties with them, instead of boiling them in hot water?

I am scared they will desintegrate in the water...

Please help me out with this.

Thank you redface.gif

I don't know for sure, but when something seems off, I chuck it. I'm not super squeamish, but if I'm in doubt, I'll weigh possibly having to go to the doctor for food poisoning over saving $0.50 worth of beans. If it's just a textural thing, you could make soup.
