I feel silly asking this, but as much as I read about bone broth I can't seem to find any mention of my concern. We're vegetarian right now but are about to start the transition to TF, and I want to begin with homemade bone broth. I keep reading that once it cools as you're storing it in the fridge, it turns gelatinous (I get why--obviously makes perfect sense considering the high gelatin content). But then what the heck do you do with it when you want to drink it or use it for soup again? Does it turn liquidy when you re-heat it? Or do you end up making stew out of bone jell-o chunks? How does that work?!

Yes, it will melt in heat. Or mine always has, but I've only done it a few times. It makes the best gravy. I've got leftover thanksgiving turkey bones waiting for me in the freezer. eat.gif

Thanks, that's wonderfully reassuring--in my mind's eye I was seeing something I did NOT think I'd want to eat! Now I'm excited to get started.

funny but related, I made a large pot of bone broth from our culled roosters' bones.  It was so gelatinous the carrots, onions and celery I was trying to add to it to make soup sat on top of the broth. It finally started to melt down but it might has well have been Jello jigglers
