I tried some plain kefir today.............and all I can say is.......will I EVER get used to that flavor??? uugghhhhh

A few weeks ago, I bought some blueberry, but I threw that out because once I got it home I noticed it wasn't organic, and then I read the label closer and one of the first ingredients was.........HFCS!!!!!! I felt I was defeating any health benefits it may have had by it having that....

So today I manage to get the *good* kind but all they had was plain, no berry or peach or anything. And I drank and ewww.....um, vinegar? Something like that. I'm just not used to this fermented thing.

another question........why is kefir better than plain yogurt? At least with plain yogurt, I can put in some finely chopped cucumber, lemon juice, dill, and I've got some GREAT dip......

Hmm, when I've eaten kefir, it's been in place of sour cream and I thought it was divine! But I stay away from it in favor of soy yogurt and Tofutti sour cream (vegan). Maybe put it on your burritos or in a bean dip??

I make my own kefir at home, but Im sure you could do it with store bought too. I add fruits with it and put it in a blender and make my own smoothies

Okay, tell me what HFCS stands for? I'm trying to figure that one out.

Yes, we have gotten used to plain kefir over here now. Me, my 5 yo and almost 3 yo.
We make our own from the grains. At first we weren't used to it, and used it in smoothies. Now we are able to simplify and just drink it straight. We do it playfully, like when you mess around trying to eat a lemon. :LOL It is sour, but some batches are pretty mild. We all just drink it and make funny faces. But they drink it willingly!
Everything is just a matter of getting used to and changing your palate.
