I am using just a regular crockpot with no fancy buttons or anything. It has a removeable stoneware so I just use that to put it in the oven. HTH

The problem I am having is that the loaves aren't very big. My dh and kids love having sandwiches for lunch but with 5 people we can almost go through one loaf for one lunch, one sandwich a piece. If you cut them small, they fall apart. Anyone have any ideas?

I am a total bread-chicken, and this thread is what finally got me to jump in and try it!!!
I've had everything on hand sitting in the freezer for months now, waiting for me to motivate and pick a recipe and DO IT...
the dough is bubbling and growing in the oven, and I'll bake it tomorrow...

I need help. I have had dough sitting out all night, and I'm going to bake it soon. My plan has been to bake it in my crock pot with the crock pot lid on.

But I'm worried. The lid is made out of glass, so that ought to be fine, but it has a handle that I think is plastic. I'm worried it will melt in the oven. This is my crock pot.

Any ideas anyone?

You should be able to take the black stoneware insert out and just put that, along with the lid, into the oven.
I wouldn't put the outer pot with the plastic handles and cooking element in the oven.

No, it's the top lid I'm worried about. There's a handle on it that you grab onto to lift the lid.

Well, I baked my bread and it turned out just beautiful. I didn't trust the crock pot lid so I used a mis-matched lid from one of my pots.

I would not put the glass lid with plastic knob in the oven. Le Creuset lids have a plastic knobs, but are safe to 450 degrees, per their website. But otherwise, I'd play it safe and just use a mismatched lid.

OK... the fabulous people at King Arthur have come up with a Chocolate Cherry Pecan version of the no-knead bread. How cool is that!!

http://www.kingarthurflour.com/shop/...=1186578413954

It uses unbleached white flour, wheat flour, and rye flour... plus salt, yeast, dried cherries, chocolate chips, and pecans. I can't wait to make this!
