Mine are still white-ish colored, but I made the cream soda kefir and 3 days later it still tastes very sweet and not at all fizzy or "kefiry". (but before that I hadn't used them for a month).

If you haven't used them in awhile it will take them muuuuuuch longer to get going. I'd give them time, even up to 4x as long as normal before having a funeral . . .

O.K. all you water kefir experts.... (please help !)

After the first and second day, the kefir was still sweet and not at all tangy or fizzy like kefir normally is. So I let it brew about 4-5 days, and now it's still a bit sweet but also sour tasting instead of tangy or fizzy.

What do you all think ? Thanks for any advice

I had the same experience and just got rid of mine. I left my soda out for a week with no change near the woodstove. Then I tried putting them in more sugar ect.....I figured it was not worth all the stress for $5 to get some more shipped to try again

This time I am going to get sucanat and keep brewing (without storing them) because I think I will have better success and I desperately need probiotics!

Thanks newcastlemomma - great idea ! I think I'll start over, and this time any extra that keep getting produced, I'll release them in a pond or something.
