Do any of you 'store' an extra scoby? If so how? I'd like to keep a couple on hand in case something happens to my current brew. Also I want to take a break from brewing because have more than we can store at the moment.

For short term storage I use a glass container and put about a cup of Kombucha in with my extra scoby and put it in the fridge. This is not good for long term because they will eventually go dormant. This woman has a nursery.

I have started kombucha from half a mushroom that was kept in the fridge for several months, the lady who gave it to me can't even remember how long it had been in there.

I've heard if you put some extra sugar in the storage jar that helps keep it alive too.
