I'm going more towards a strict vegetarian diet and would like to understand the nutritional aspects of food better.what do I need and why and how much. what is a good way of taking it and what isnt etc.

I'd love to hear your recommendations

Dr. Fuhrman's "Eat to Live" is one of the best nutrition/diet books I have read. He advocates a vegan diet and has lots of great information, references to studies, etc.

THE definitive 'bible' of veg*n nutrition is Becoming Vegan by Davis and Melina. It's seriously seriously excellent.

YES! 'tis excellent. His Disease Proof Your Child is also wonderful if you're interested in reading up children's nutrition.
