I'd like to find a protein powder that:

is low fat

is not sweetened with stevia or artificial sweeteners

doesn't have a lot of added sugar, some is ok

not clumpy gritty or chalky

comes in chocolate

tastes good

can be vegetarian or vegan

It's ok if it needs to be blended with fruit/milk to taste good, but just simply stirred into a glass of milk is preferred.

Well if vegetarian is ok for you, whey tastes better than anything vegan (and I am mostly vegan and avoid dairy). Nothing vegan gets as smooth and creamy.

If you have a Trader Joe's my husband loves their brand of chocolate whey. It doesn't have a bunch of artificial stuff added, just some cocoa powder, cane sugar and some vitamins I think.

I, too am looking for the perfect vegan protein shake still, so I will keep posted. The only one I like so far is Warrior Food (NOT Sun Warrior, which is more gritty and the sweetened have the awful stevia taste) Vanilla Enhanched. It does have stevia but it is undetectable, and is the smoothest brown rice protein I've found. I rarely need some, when going for a long hike or something, but I'd love to find something vegan to replace DHs whey protein.

Happily married to DH for 6 years, in process to foster-adopt 3 children DD4, DS3 and DS2. We may be bringing half brother age 9 one day as well! We are not infertile, we just have decided that since there are precious children who need homes there is no need for us to have biological children.

We love how customizable protein powder is from True Protein. It's a bulk supplement site, although you can get small quantities, and has competitive prices. It can be a little intimidating figuring out what to buy, but this is our standby:

TEAMSKIP Protein Formula

+ NATURAL Premium Vanilla $1/
+ **PREMIUM FLAVOR** (Pre-sweetened) /
+ **Plain** /
+ FREE Food Grade Bag /

It mixes really well.

Married to my favorite man in '07. Our firstborn came along in April 2012 (HBC), and our second is on the way, due sometime in May 2014 (planning an HBAC).
