Just purchased a pressure cooker this weekend and am looking for some ideas.  Today, I cooked navy beans.  Some sites said to cook for 3 minutes, some 5 minutes or more.  I did 5 minutes then an additional 3 and they were still not as soft as I wanted.

Please share any recipes or what you use your pressure cooker for?  I really love making things so quickly.

I made this twice recently. Both times I made minor changes but the recipe was essentially the same. It's good: http://www.fatfreevegan.com/pressure/butternut.shtml

You can find pressure cooking recipes on my website at theveggiequeen.com and at my former blog . I have also written a pressure cooking cookbook to get people using their pressure cookers. The book is The New Fast Food; The Veggie Queen Pressure Cooks Whole Food Meals in Less than 30 Minutes.

I got started using my pressure cooker when my son Shane was 3. One of my most requested recipes is for Shane's Fabulous Lentil Soup which I could make in less than 20 minutes from start to finish. I am sure that cooking it made me a better mother. At least I had more time for myself.
