I'm newly pregnant, and near vegan. I was an omnivore with both of my previous pregnancies, so I would like a little guidance.
What's your favorite vegan pregnancy book, cookbook or otherwise?
Thanks in advance.
The only one I know of is this one: www.herbivoreclothing.com/vegan-pregnancy-survival-guide-by-sayward-rebhal/
Sayward is an MDC mama, too.
I remember two different ones I read during pregnancy -- your vegetarian pregnancy - I remember this being more like any ordinary pregnancy book, but it did have detailed features about specific vitamins and how/why they were helpful. I do remember plenty of vegan-specific info mixed in although it isn't vegan-specific.
I also read raising vegetarian children, which I can't recall if it covered pregnancy exactly, but did talk about being a nursing mom and I generally liked it (I remember finding this one more useful and read it while pregnant, but can't find my copy at the moment. I think most recipes were vegan. If I do find my copy, I'll add more info for you.).
Honestly, I would read all the books on vegan pregnancy I could get my hands on. There are only a few out there, anyway, so it wouldn't be too tough to read them all. Here are the books I can find:
Vegan Pregnancy Survival Guide by Sayward Rebhal
Skinny Bitch Bun in the Oven by Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin
The Everything Vegan Pregnancy Book by Dr. Reed Mangels
Pregnancy, Children, and the Vegan Diet by Dr. Michael Klaper
A number of other vegan health books have a section on pregnancy, too. For example: Vegan For Life by Jack Norris and Virginia Messina.
