How many of us are raising our children vegetarian or vegan?

Would love to hear from you...

I'm vegan but my partner and children are vegetarian (mainly vegan at home though)

My kids are life veggies, aged 6, 3 and 1!!

anyone else out there? :-)

I am vegetarian and dh is vegan. We made sure both dc stayed vegan until they were 3, at which point, we allowed them to be introduced to small amount of dairy. My ds likes some dairy and dd does not like very much. We eat mainly vegan at home and try to limit dairy, so it is not a primary part of their diet.

we're all strict vegetarian (not technically vegan because that entails more than just diet), hubby and I and 3 boys between 4 and 8.

I'm raising my 3 yr old and 1 yr old veg.

Even though DH is an omni, he supports my conviction and is okay with the kids being veg.

Crunchy, pagan, vegan, homeschooling wife and mother of 3 beautiful daughters and 2 wonderful sons

Ds and I are vegan. Dh is vegetarian (he only eats animal products while out...he's transitioning). Occasionally my mom will accidentally give ds something with milk or eggs in it. She's not so good about catching things in labels, but she tries so hard that I just let it go for now. I don't want to make her feel bad, and it's unlikely to harm ds if it's only once in awhile.

We got a couple "but kids need milk" and "how will he get protein" comments when he was really little, but people have pretty much let it go by now.

My one year old is so far vegan. I am aiming to keep it that way as long as it works for him. Since he is nursing hardcore still It is hard to tell if he will thrive as a little vegan. Yay for baby vegans!

I've been veg for about 9 years and my kids have been veg since in-utero. One is 6 and one is 3. My 6yo has had to defend her choice in school to friends who say she can't be healthy because she's veg and so on. But she's very much committed to being veg and very proud of what she's doing. My 3yo is basically vegan because of severe food allergies. She survives on a few foods (4 to be exact) and a special medical food/formula. I talked to my SIL and some other family members and they are all severely allergic to seafood and red meat. So maybe it's just as well that we never gave her any meat.

7yo: "Mom,I know which man is on a quarter and which on is on a nickel. They both have ponytails, but one man has a collar and the other man is naked. The naked man was our first president."

Checking in! Dh, 7.5yo ds and I are strict vegetarian. Ds has always been veg, however dh and I converted during his 1st year of life, going dairy-free first, then meat and egg free. Then organic, then lots of other things free.

I am lacto-veg and Dh is vegan. We plan on raising our son vegan, but what to you parents of older vegans do about halloween & trick-or-treating? (OT, sorry) We eat vegan at home and I rarely eat cheese while out.

He is only 1 month and a 1/2 right now!

DD knows which candy is vegan and which contain animal products, and she's more than happy to "trade in" her non-vegan candy for vegan ones, and then we give the non-vegan ones away.

My 13 yr old son is a vegetarian (is veg*an vegan or vegetarian?) He was a vegggie from brith to age 4 and then an omni, with very little flesh). He's back to not eating meat.

We are all vegetarian, have sometimes done the vegan thing. My son doesn't like cheese or milk and one of my daughters has an egg allergy. Dh wants to be a vegan household (ethical) but it hasn't yet worked for me. I am not ruling it out, just not there yet.

You don’t owe them an explanation, just a response.

Vegan here! Love eating this way!
Vegan lifestyle all over is more difficult than vegan food though...

Ds has basically been vegan since birth, some cheese and yoghurt along the way when we were veg rather than vegan.
Been vegan for about 4 years now. Dh vegan/veg for about 5 years.
Me - I went vegetarian when I was 15...wow, that´s 25 years ago! :

No plans of ever eating meat/fish/dairy again.
Although dh sometimes goes a little wobbly when he sees or smells some "yummy" (not my words ) meat dish from his "previous life"! :

My Dd (13.5) is a vegetarian. I am a strict vegetarian (vegan 99.% of the time). My Ds is omni.

we are! i have a nearly 6 year old, a nearly 4 year old, and a new baby due in November, all of whom are being raised Vegan! dh is omni (but a big veg supporter, doesn't eat meat at home very often), and i'm vegan. we're going to let our kids decide for themselves whether they want to remain vegan, but we don't feel they are really old enough yet (and, if asked, they both say that they will be vegan forever).

Dd is primarily veg, almost vegan. (her vices are string cheese, ice cream and hotdogs) all these are limited

Ds is 11mo and except for formula (low supply, then early weaning).

I was veg for 2 years until I had ds then fell into cooking omni stuff that dh would eat. I'm working on going back to veg then vegan. (I don't like eggs, milk makes me sick, but I'm still stuck on cheese and yogurt)
