Here we go mamas!

My goal is to lose 9.6 lbs this month.

What I am doing:

Gym twice a week. One of the days I tone with a trainer.

Eating next to no processed foods. (had a couple pretzels earlier)

Cut out (starting right this moment) all white sugar and gluten.

My weight this morning was 159.6 and my ultimate goal is 128.

How tall are you? Your numbers seem similar to mine...I'm at 153.something and my goal is 120.

Oh, and why are you cutting out gluten, if I may ask?

I am 5ft, 4inches. I just had a baby (my first and only) in March of this year and gained a whopping 75 lbs.

I am down almost 50 lbs....

gluten??? I am cutting that out because of the calories and carbs. Just a waste right now while trying to take the weight off. (i can really hit the pasta and bread stuff)

I'm also 5'4". I just had my first baby in September. I've actually already lost the weight from that pregnancy but let's just say that my pre-pregnancy weight was not as low as it could have been... I'm not really going to focus too much on weight loss at this point since I'm breastfeeding and don't want to interfere with that too much but I desperately need to get my healthy diet back on track. Still, I wouldn't mind losing a few pounds. Since the baby came I've just been grabbing handfuls of crackers or snacks when I walk by the kitchen since I've been too busy to really prepare meals. So here's my plan:

-increase the fruits and veg by a lot! buy it and then cut it all up as soon as I get home and have lovely plates of veggies in the fridge for convenient snacking

- use hummus as a dip instead of those dairy based dips (which are so yummy but also terribly fattening!)

- limit carb intake to smaller portions and whole grains. I am the queen of the processed white flour crackers!

- one dessert for a treat per week, not DAY

- no fruit juice. eat the whole fruit.

- ignore what my husband eats (he works out quite a bit and can eat thousands of calories. I can and do eat as much as him..which is why pre-pregnancy weight was too high!)

Alrightly mamas!

I am down a couple lbs. Been such a busy week and I've been walking everywhere and just eating whole foods with the exception of a few cheats cuz of time contraints.

Where is everyone??? No other Hot Mamas out there???

hey all- I've been dieting since last Sunday and am doing okay, I've lost three pounds, I think that is good but I am cheating and it makes me nervous. I keep eating meat, I don't even care about meat but the opportunity has come up so not even thinking just ate some. I will forgive myself as I have been on the meat wagon for a number of years.
I have almost completely cut out sugar and that is HUGE I have anxiety ( or rather a serotonin deficiency) and I depend on those little highs I get from sugar.
I haven't been exercising but it is so hard to find even a half hour to sleep! I need to prioritize right, well single working mom of three kids.....
I've been eating a ton of brown rice and lots of green tea. I am not eating enough veggies and fruit.
Treefairie, what are you eating if you are skipping the processed foods???
I'll check back in soon!!!

I would like to join you guys too. I've just switched over to a vegan diet, cut out white sugar, and I've limited my glutein, though I still have a little bit, do you think I should cut it out completely? I'm 5'8 and 180 pounds, would like to get to around 150 (well actually closer to 130/140, but I'm being realistic).

I don't get much exercise, other than I run around all day taking care of a baby and cleaning the house, and 3-4 out of the nights I work in a retail store, so walking and climbing ladders. On the rest of the nights there is a great little spiritual shop two blocks from my house that has yoga every evening for cheap, so I try to go...though I haven't been in over 2 weeks. I'm going to start going again, I've just been sick and very tired.

I have blood sugar issues, and also rosacea/acne, and hope that a more healthy diet and exercise would make me more healthy.

My best dieting quality-I LOVE fruits and veggies, I could eat them all day long.
My worst dieting quality-I don't drink NEAR enough water. My doctor told me that the minimum amount of water one should drink is their weight cut in half (so for 180 pounds, I should drink 90 oz a day). I probably drink in a good day maybe 20 oz. (sometimes 40 oz), so I'm really looking to up that!

I don't take any vitamins at the time, as I ran out of money for them, but I used to take a very good multi-vitamin. I also take a spoonful of blackstrap molasses every day, always have.

Talk to you later!

i still have 10 lbs to go, but i have a plan!! it's been hard to hash a plan since we started homeschooling. i lost 40 of the 50 baby lbs in the first 3 mths and have these extra 10 hanging on as i'm BUSY and STARVING with baby nursing all the time so tis much drama.

my goal isn't so much to lose weight as to firm up. i'm 5' 5.5" and 135lbs, i'd like to be back at 125 and firm up my thighs and booty to match my arms as i'm feeling peary. we don't eat meat or dairy at home and hardly any processed foods so i plan to watch portions- continue snacking only on fruit and veggies ala Eat to Live, cut back the nighttime cocoa and chocolate treats to twice a week (this is havoc on my skin anyway!), and fit some squats and pilates in my day which will cut my knitting time sadly down.

excited about this tribe and reading updates :

I still am hanging in there, tonight I made caramelize cabbage and a quiche. I didn't even want the quiche, the cabbage was great. Mostly I have been controling my behavior, next to add in is the exersize, which again I love but can't prioritize.
Thanks for being here!
Oh yeah, I am journaling and writing what I eat and my feelings about my body etc,.. it really helps

*sigh* My weight hasn't budged. I guess I need to step up the exercise, which I don't really like to do because I don't like to get hot and sweaty. I guess I'm going to have to choose between being lazy and being fit, lol. My mom told me the other day that I shouldn't expect to lose much weight because it's not in my genes to be thin. I don't buy that though, there are thin people in my family. Anyway, still eating well. Trying to exercise. Maybe one of these days I'll actually lose a little weight...

My house has been sick, so I was able to drop a few lbs,but we'll see if it holds or not!

Hi mamas!

I'd like to join in.

I've lost 70 pounds since DS arrived 18 mos. ago. 35 of that was pregnancy weight, and I am 35 pounds less than I was pre-pregnancy. I'm pretty proud of myself! Five years ago I lost 130 pounds, but it all came back on after a very stressful ongoing situation with an former employer.

The post-pregnancy pounds started falling off when I went vegan last January, but the minute I started letting cheese and eggs (and a bunch of other very unhealthy stuff) back into my diet, my weight loss came to a screeching halt (but I haven't gained back a single pound!). I had a lot of trouble balancing working from home, taking care of DS and preparing vegan food, so I went back to vegetarian for a time because it was easier. Now that I'm on an hiatus from work, I'm going to go back to vegan and pick up my workout schedule again.

So here I am! I would really like to get down to 120 before October, which is when I want to TTC again. I'm going to be at risk for pre-eclampsia, so I'm trying to eliminate as many risk factors as possible.

Thanks for reading!

Still no weight loss but the ice cream I bought on an impulse may be the cause of that. I have been working out...Lean, Long, and Strong by Wini Linguvic is a great strength training book for women if you're looking for those kind of books. Very easy to follow and it works if you do it! I'll weigh tomorrow and see if anything is happening. Good luck everyone!

hey mama's!
I am checking in still dieting, usually after week two I've totally lost focus. I didn't journal this week, unfortunately because it is extremely helpful for me in that it keeps me honest and makes me actualize my behavior. However, even without exercise and journal I got through the week and lost another three pounds. Staying off of dairy and sugar and most gluten has helped but I still ate some fish and meat. It is weird to cheat on meat but I must be honest; it isn't the philosophical reasons that have lead me back to my vegan diet, it is wanting to save my health this time.
Sparklett how tall are you may I ask?
I am impressed with how much you have lost, you must feel like a new woman?
Good luck all and stick to it!

I'm 5'2. I should weigh around 105. When I lost weight the first time a few years back I got down to 130. It was awesome, but I have to say that I did it with the help of Ephedra (it suppressed my appetite and stimulated me so much that I was always out running). This time around, it's all about diet and exercise.

Despite already loosing 70 pounds, I am still VERY overweight right now. I'm trying to loose all of the weight because I'm trying to eliminate as many pre-eclampsia risk factors as possible. I had pre-e @33 weeks and DS was born early because of it. I think my weight was an issue, though it's really hard to say. I hope to TTC in October 09 and need to be as healthy as possible starting out.

How is everyone doing? I'm ashamed :

I have not done much of anything, food wise. I have been going to the gym and walking on the tread mill. That's about it.

OK one positive thing. I just got home from a "office birthday lunch"

I did not eat a lot, and I stayed veg, sometimes when going out that is hard for me.

I have been terrible. I have not been eating my fruits and veggies like I should, and i have been eating a lot of carbs. I crave them this time of the year. I have stayed vegan through some birthday parties, but I ended up eating lots of potato chips because that was the only vegan food. UGH! I know that I need to eat before going to those things. Also, still no exercise. I am feeling fat and yucky and really need a good jump start.
