I have 2 kids - AP just turned 3, AJ is almost 23 months. AP got a twin bed for his b-day and has been STTN until recently. AJ is still nursing to sleep, and shares a room with her brother. She wakes up around 2 and wants to 'nursh' as she says, and goes back to sleep in our bed.
Here's a typical night
DH gets home, we eat at 7. (It's late, I know, but it's what we do). Kids go to the bath, and are in their jammies by 8:30. Dh puts AP down - they read, talk a bit, then lights out. DH usually passes out fast, and AP will stay awake for roughly 30 min or more. I usually have to wake DH up after AJ goes down.
I think he is getting used to Daddy being in his bed, because he now is starting to get in our bed around the same time as AJ. This is not good - he wants to snuggle with me who is nursing AJ. AJ does not like AP touching mommy while she's nursing, and is quite vocal about it. DH usually takes him back to bed, but he screams. DH will fall asleep for several hours again, and then come back to bed. They are basically co-sleeping in AP's bed.
AJ sits on the couch with me and 'nushes' to sleep. I put her down on our bed, where she naps, because AP is going to sleep. DH will put her in her toddler bed once he wakes up. Then she comes back to us, and at times will nurse several times a night. However, this hasn't been working lately. Last night was horrible. She REFUSED to sleep. She did not go to sleep until after 11. She woke up once to nurse, and was back up at 7:30. We tried EVERYTHING - sippy cup, nursing, rocking, cuddling, nothing worked until she was so tired that she finally passed out nursing.
If you got this far, thank you! I'm at a loss for what to do. The lack of sleep is making them grouchy little monsters. The lack of couple time (sex and just being able to reconnect ) is hurting our marriage. I could not tell you the last time I STTN. We are 100% committed to trying anything to make bedtime better!
